Various pieces of exciting news.
1) Dude, I'm getting a Dell. My HP laptop isn't cutting the mustard anymore. The lack of built-in-wireless is a pain, the monitor's too small, and the hard drive is too small for all the development stuff I have on it, let alone not having much RAM, and linux hating every bell and whistle an HP can come with. Mom said she'd spot for one or two upgrades, which is incredibly nice of her, but those would come out to hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
Enter Jess.
Nikki's sister, Jess, is looking for a laptop. Simple word-processing, doesn't want anything painfully expensive. So I'm selling her mine for $400, getting a new one for $800. For you geeks out there, this means I'm essentially upgrading from 1.7 ghz to 3.06, 256 mb ram to 512, 32 mb ati to 64 mb nVidia, 20 gb hard drive to 80. For 400 bucks.
I mean, that's nice.
Other news:
I got an email from a recruiter at the EPG today. I have an interview next friday to work for The Man, for a summer job coding .NET applications and playing with toys only military funding can buy. All as a summer internship, but still.
I mean, come on. That's bad-ass.
On slightly sadder notes, I don't know if you're all aware of this, but Loony Tunes is being bastardized into some sort of "We're WB, but we're badasses" silhoutte-y sonic-the-hedgehog-posing wankertoons on an upcoming cartoon called "Loonatics." I strongly urge all of you to boycott this mockery of all that was ever classic in the world of cartoons.
Also, Hunter S. Thompson recently died. I can't bring myself to say I was particularly shocked, but I am saddened. Few had the ability, or the courage, to live as madly and boldly as he did, nor the articulacy to relate such a life in so powerful a manner as he did. He was, to quote the gonzo himself, "Too mad to live. Too rare to die."
